At Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, our worship is designed to give praise to our Lord and to encourage and lift up the folks attending. We sing songs about our savior Jesus Christ, our love for each other and we sing songs of praise to our God.
Our worship is simple. We offer prayers for the worship service and for the health and well being of the church, it’s family and the world. We believe in A Cappella style singing (Ephesians 5:19 “ speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord”). The beauty and power of the human voice is quite evident when one listens to the singing. It moves and encourages us to know that we are loved by each other and, most importantly loved by our Lord Jesus Christ.
We observe the Lord’s supper each week. In this memorial, we share bread (representing the body of Christ) and drink of juice (representing the blood of Christ). Matthew 26:26-29, “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” This is a part of our worship where our members deeply reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made for the world. It is a time of thanksgiving and adoration for our Lord.
An offering is made each week to support the work of the church. For convenience, contribution boxes are located in the foyer and available before and after service. We have also included a link on this site to contribute to the work if that is more convenient. No one is required to give. Rather, it is a time where participants search their heart and give back a portion to the Lord for how He has blessed their lives.
Our minister, Charles Anderson, encourages the congregation with a powerful message that helps the church family examine themselves in their walk with Christ and gives great biblical examples of how to live as a Christian. Charles has nearly 40 years experience in the pulpit and continues to deliver powerful sermons on a weekly basis. You will leave our service with your heart full of His love and practical advice to live your life as a Christian. Come and visit our family. See first hand why Laurel Avenue truly displays “Love in Action”!
